Let’s face it, you’re going to see the new Hunger Games film, and odds are, you’re already excited. I know I certainly am, especially after how fantastic Catching Fire turned out to be. With that said, I really do not understand the absolutely bone-headed marketing campaign that Lionsgate has put on for the latest film in their flagship franchise. So far, they spent a couple days hiding the first trailer for the film on Samsung phones, and then, when we finally did get a trailer, it showed practically nothing. Less than a minute of contextless footage just randomly jumping around the screen.
With that said, there’s plenty of time to rectify this. After all, fellow young adult adaptation ‘The Maze Runner’ is on the way, and that would be prime time to release a new, hopefully better trailer. With that said, we now have this poster to hold us over. And…it’s Katniss’ back, that’s it. How lazy can this studio possibly be? I understand the confidence level in this film’s performance is off that charts, but that doesn’t mean that they should be hiding it until the last minute. Especially considering that this is the beginning of the end for this series, why not make this look like the biggest, and best film thus far? Oh well…hopefully that effort will get started soon. For now, I give you…Katniss’ back.
Update: The Facebook page seems to indicate that the trailer will be released on September 10th
